Cruising the Baltic Sea: August 2008

What a birthday present! We had a wonderful cruise with Celebrity on the Constellation. We departed Harwich, England and sailed to Copenhagen, Denmark; then Warnemünde, Germany (where we took a bus into Berlin); then Tallin, Estonia. Tallin was a nice surprise--the old town was very quaint and scenic.

The next port, St. Petersburg, Russia was the highlight of the trip. We spent two days there and will have to go back. From St. Petersburg we sailed to Helsinki, Finland. It was cold and rainy and we could not see too much. Next: Stockholm, Sweden. Unfortunately, we only had less than one day in Stockholm--we had hoped for more.

After leaving Sweden, we sailed to Riga, Latvia, another pleasant surprise. Our last port of call was Klaipeda, Lithuania. This was a disappointment, although we've heard that Lithuania is a beautiful country. Perhaps another trip...

Betty and I had the opportunity to share dinners with Joe and Ruth from England and Doug and Faye from New Zealand. We made some great new friends and we hope to see them again.

We hope you enjoy these pictures.
